Lost in the vast sea of star of the Shield constellation, IC 1295 is a faint and a medium sized anular PN. Its superficial brightness is not so high, and OIII helps a lot to observe this object, make it rise from the sea of stars of its field of view. OIII is also outstanding for imaging this nebula, increasing contrast and lowing down the influence of stars, thanks to the high level of excitation with a strong radiation flux.
In professional images it appears as a double-shell planetary nebula: inner shell is very bright and irregular, it's thickier and diffuse contours; external shell is thinner instead, less extended and cuttin edged.
Unluckily, studies are not numerous, so observations by astronomers and amateurs would be very useful.

Interesting level : ****
